A microwave can do a whole lot more than reheat leftovers. A few compact tools can turn basic groceries into breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a midnight snack. And having food they can make themselves is one more little piece of HOME when home is far away.
Try this first: Microwave French Toast
Makes 1 serving · About 5 minutes
You’ll need: 1 egg, 2 tbsp milk, ¼ tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp vanilla, 2 slices bread torn into bite-size pieces, optional butter, plus syrup and fruit for serving.
Whisk the egg, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla together. Add the bread and gently stir until coated. Let it soak for about 30 seconds. Microwave for 1 minute, stir gently, then continue in 20–30 second intervals until the egg is completely cooked. Top with syrup and fruit.
💡 DORM HACK: Slightly stale bread is perfect for French toast. Keep extra slices in the freezer so bread doesn’t go to waste.
